Well, it was fun while it lasted, but due to the rise in Covid cases in the Houston area and the emergence of the dreaded “Delta Variant”, Worshipful Master, Aaron Neskar, has decreed all Brethren attending meetings, regardless of vaccination status, be masked, maintain social distance and take advantage of hand sanitizing stations located throughout the building. Meals will still be served, however.
Likewise, a dispatch from Grand Master Ken Curry, issued yesterday states:
I hope this finds you and yours well and in good health. The Delta Variant of the Covid virus is especially contagious and is not to be taken lightly. We have stressed to the Masons of Texas that they should use good common sense in dealing with the pandemic. We must be mindful of our Brothers who are at risk of serious illness and death. The State of Texas through the Governor’s office and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) recommend these everyday actions to help prevent the spread of any respiratory virus, including COVID‑19: * Consider wearing a mask. Vaccinated or not, wearing a mask in indoor public spaces can help protect you and everyone close to you. * Wash hands often for 20 seconds and encourage others to do the same. Use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are unavailable. * Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue away. * Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. * Disinfect surfaces, buttons, handles, knobs, and other places touched often. * Stay six feet apart from others. * Avoid close contact with people who are sick. COVID-19 symptoms can include: * Fever * Cough * Shortness of Breath * Chills * Fatigue * Muscle or body aches * Headache * New loss of taste or smell * Sore throat * Congestion or runny nose * Nausea or vomiting * Diarrhea If you experience any of these symptoms you should immediately seek medical treatment. Further, do not visit or attend Masonic meetings until you test negative for the Covid-19 Virus, your physician is satisfied it safe for you to attend meetings or you have been in quarantine as recommended by your local health authority. Let’s be careful out there. Ken Curry Grand Master – 2021 |
