Dale “Beans” Barton was selected for this year’s Jacques Demolay #1390 Community Builder Award.

Beans has been creating art and music in the Houston area for almost 50 years. His murals have been on walls at Travis Elementary School, J. Harding, Onion Creek Cafe and other local business. He created a traveling exhibit for the Children’s Museum of Houston featuring his original fantasy creatures.

For more than 25 years, during each and every live performance with his band, Beans Baron and the Bi-Peds, he has created at least one original painting.  At the end of the show that painting is auctioned to an audience member and 100% of the collections are donated the Houston Food Bank.  Working with the Food Bank and their corporate matching sponsors, Dale has generated more than $250,000 in donations to help feed the underprivileged in Houston and the surrounding area, never once seeking recognition or recompense.
