JOHN D. McCLUNG (w∴m∴ 1993-1994)
John David McClung was born on September 3, 1960 in Houston, Texas. He was educated in the public school system of the city, and graduated from S. P. Waltrip High School in 1979. He then attended the Art Institute of Houston, from which he graduated in 1983 with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Arts and Advertising Design. For the past thirteen years, he has been employed with Ogilvy and Mather Advertising as a Desktop Publishing/Macintosh Computer Technician.
He is single.
As a young man, Brother McClung was a member of the Order of DeMolay, having received the degrees from Reagan Chapter in May 1976. He was also a member of Houston Priory, Order of Knighthood, for which he served as Illustrious Knight Commander in 1981. He is currently a member of the advisory board for Reagan Chapter. Because of his devoted service to the Order of DeMolay, he was invested with the Degree of Chevalier in 1981, invested as a member of the Legion of Honor in 1991, and awarded the Cross of Honor in 1992.
Brother McClung received the degrees of Freemasonry from Jacques DeMolay Lodge No. 1390 in Houston, Texas. He was initiated as an Entered Apprentice Mason on October 29, 1981; passed to the degree of Fellowcraft on September 13, 1982; and raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on November 8, 1982. He served as Worshipful Master of the Lodge for the 1993-1994 term. He was awarded the Grand Lodge Golden Trowel in 1998.
Brother McClung is a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, having received the degrees from the Houston bodies in March 1987. He is a member of the Lighting Committee, as well as the Twenty-first Degree team. For his service and devotion to the Rite, he was invested with the rank and decoration of a Knight Commander of the Court of Honour in 1999.
