ROBERT W. MURRAY (w∴m∴ 1992-1993)
Robert Wesley Murray was born on March 6, 1954 in Knoxville, Tennessee, later moving to the Houston metropolitan area. He graduated from Pasadena High School
in 1972. He continued his education at Southwest Texas State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 1977, and later at the University of Houston – Clear Lake where in 1992 he earned a Master’s degree in Behavioral Science. For the past twenty years he has been employed with the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department, where he is currently Operations Manager of Technology and Systems Development. He was awarded “Boss of the Year” in 1999.
He is married, and has two daughters.
As a young man, Brother Murray was a member of the Order of DeMolay, having received the degrees from Pasadena Chapter in April 1969. He served as Master Councilor for that Chapter in 1971, and also served as Illustrious Knight Commander of Houston Priory, Order of Knighthood. He served as the Master Councilor of the Greater Houston Area DeMolay Association from 1973-1974, and as State Illustrious Knight Commander the next year. He is an advisor for Pasadena Chapter. For his devoted service to the Order of DeMolay, he was invested with the Degree of Chevalier in 1972, and was invested as a member of the Legion of Honor in 1984.
Brother Murray received the degrees in Freemasonry from Deer Park Lodge No. 1362, Deer Park, Texas. He was initiated as an Entered Apprentice Mason on April 10, 1975; passed to the degree of Fellowcraft on May 12, 1975; and raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on July 3, 1975. He affiliated with Jacques DeMolay Lodge in September 1986, and served as the thirty-third Worshipful Master from 1992 to 1993.
Brother Murray is a member of Archives Chapter No. 1195 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and served as its Worthy Patron from 1983 to 1984.
Brother Murray is a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, having received the degrees from the Houston bodies in September 1990.
