Ralph David Coppock was born on March 17, 1903 in Washington, Iowa, moving to Houston in 1920. He attended the University of Iowa, the University of Texas, and the Texas College of Law. During World War II, he served the United States as a District Enforcement Attorney of the Office of Price Administration. After the war, he established his own practice.
He was married, with three children.
Brother Coppock received the degrees in Freemasonry from East Gate Lodge No. 1153. He was initiated as an Entered Apprentice Mason on December 14, 1945; passed to the degree of Fellowcraft on February 19, 1946; and raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on March 26, 1946. He was a charter member of Jacques DeMolay Lodge, and served as Worshipful Master for the 1963-1964 masonic year.
Brother Coppock was a member of the Shrine, and the Red Cross of Constantine.
Brother Coppock was a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, having received the degrees from the Houston bodies in April 1946. He served as Commander of Houston Council of Knights Kadosh in 1967. For his service and devotion to the Rite, he was invested with the rank and decoration of a Knight Commander of the Court of Honour in 1955, and was coroneted an Inspector General Honorary of the Thirty-third Degree in 1965.
Brother Coppock passed away on May 4, 1975 at the age of seventy-two. He was laid to rest in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Masonic graveside services were performed under the auspices of East Gate Lodge No. 1153.
