Frank Milton Martin was born on October 3, 1921 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He later moved to Fort Worth, where he graduated from the Fort Worth Technical High School in 1940. In his early professional life, he worked as a machinist for the Humble Oil and Refining Company, and later was employed with the Landers Machine Company as Vice President of Manufacturing.
He was married, with three children.
Brother Martin was not a member of the Order of DeMolay, but for twenty-five years he served as the Chapter Advisor of Fort Worth Chapter. Because of his devoted service to the Order, he was invested as an Honorary Member of the Legion of Honor.
Brother Martin received the degrees in Freemasonry from Julian Feild Lodge No. 908, in Fort Worth. He was initiated as an Entered Apprentice Mason on September 4, 1946; passed to the degree of Fellowcraft on October 4, 1946; and raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on November 8, 1946. After moving to Houston, he affiliated with Memorial Lodge No. 1298, and served as its Senior Warden from 1952-1953. He was a charter member of Jacques DeMolay Lodge, and served as Worshipful Master for the 1961-1962 masonic year. In 1963, he was elected Secretary of the Lodge, and served in that office for the next six years. Brother Martin moved back to Fort Worth in 1969, resuming his work with Julian Feild Lodge, and served as that Lodge’s Secretary for twenty-two years. Because of his experience, he was appointed chairman of the Grand Lodge committee that wrote the first Secretary’s manual for use in constituent lodges of the Grand Lodge of Texas.
Brother Martin was a member of the Chapter, Council and Commandery of the York Rite. He was also a member of the Shrine, the Grotto, Red Cross of Constantine, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Brother Martin was a charter member of Tejas Council No. 282, of the Allied Masonic Degrees of the United States.
Brother Martin was a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, having received the degrees from the Houston bodies in March and April 1961. He served as Wise Master of Houston Chapter Knights Rose Croix in 1967. For his service and devotion to the Houston bodies, he was invested with the rank and decoration of a Knight Commander of the Court of Honour in 1965. In 1973, he transferred his membership to the Forth Worth bodies, where he served as chairman of the Wardrobe Committee for twenty years. In 1977, he was coroneted an Inspector General Honorary of the Thirty-third Degree.
Brother Martin passed away on May 11, 1995 at the age of seventy-three. He was laid to rest in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Forth Worth. Masonic graveside services were performed under the auspices of Julian Feild Lodge No. 908.
